There's a lot of talk about terrorists and new IRA and past dealings and who's really the bad guy it becomes a distraction and it's all told very clumsily.

This genre-bending series puts a modern twist on Greek and Roman mythology, exploring themes of gender politics, power and life in the underworld. "The Foreigner" doesn't blow the doors off the revenge-action model, but it does become one of the best recent old-guy-is-a-secret-badass movies.
Where the movie really could have taken off, Campbell steers straight instead of veering into any real characterization for anyone else outside of Chan and Brosnan.

It's a great counter-character spot for Chan, who's been heavily involved with mixed martial arts films, comedies (involving the former), and fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants action films with big budgets.
